Re-Keying Von Duprin Panic Bars
Challenge
The ASI technicians were tasked with re-keying the Von Duprin panic bars located at a wholesale retail location. These panic bars are armed with an alarm system that goes off when opened.
Tools
Key cutters, key pins, locksmith equipment
Time Duration
3 days
The first task for the technicians was to disarm the panic bars for the area they start with. The technicians dismantle the panic bars by pulling out the screws and removing the front panel.
The next step is to remove the pins from the lock cylinders. The technician is using a special tool to remove the cylinder from the lock.
The technician needs to replace the pins in the cylinder for the new master key system that is being implemented. A new key will be used for this panic bar.
The final task is to place the cylinder into the lock and placing the panel into the panic bar. The technicians are careful to slide the panel into place and make sure the wires are not going to get bunched up or messy. The technicians will then close the doors and arm the alarms for the location. The technicians move on to the next area and provide the new keys to the employees.
